Miller Beach– Gary, Indiana – Local artists, musicians and
“creative types” from a quaint, lakefront community long known for its
“bohemian” atmosphere have been working together with area residents,
restaurateurs and business owners, this summer to redevelop their sleepy
downtown into an dynamic destination for arts and entertainment. Their vision
is the Miller Beach Arts & Creative District, which aims to transform
downtown Miller and the adjacent residential areas into a diverse and vibrant
cultural destination for the visual, performing and culinary arts. Arts
districts have been used in various cities nationwide as a catalyst for
community regeneration and plans for the new district in Miller
Beach

The district will be hosting its very first event; “Pop Up Night”
on Saturday, September 24 between 6:00 and 9:00 pm, with additional “Pop Ups”
held October 29 and December 3. During each event, art exhibits will “Pop Up”
throughout downtown Miller as several area businesses temporarily turn into art
galleries for the evening. Previously vacant storefronts will display work by
local artists, transforming Lake Streetinto Miller Beach

As part of the event, Lake Street Gallery, a long time anchor of
the arts in Miller, will be hosting a reception for their featured artist,
Leslie Green and Lake
